Ray Thompson serves as the CADD Coordinator for Reliance Engineers, bringing over 30 years of experience in engineering plan production and computer-aided drafting for large-scale infrastructure projects. He has played a key role in the delivery of major transportation and bridge programs by managing and producing detailed construction documents, 3D models, and visualizations in support of both design and construction teams.
Ray oversees a team of operators and detailers proficient in MicroStation, AutoCAD, TEKLA, 3D Studio Max, and related software platforms. His expertise includes bridge geometry development using InRoads, 3D modeling for interference detection and constructability assessments, and the preparation of high-quality visualizations for project presentations and marketing using 3D Studio Max and Adobe Photoshop.
Throughout his career, Ray has led the plan production efforts on numerous high-profile projects across the Northeast, including the Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Bridge, U.S. Grant Bridge, and several major contracts under Boston’s Central Artery/Tunnel Program. He has also contributed to detailing assignments for the Portsmouth Memorial Bridge, the Chelsea Street Bridge, and the Bates Bridge Replacement, and is currently involved in the replacement of the I-95 Providence Viaduct.
Ray’s extensive experience, leadership in CADD operations, and hands-on technical capabilities have made him a trusted resource for both design-phase coordination and construction-phase support on complex transportation infrastructure projects.
